| Fake encounter case: With four more today, total detained rise to eight | | | SRINAGAR | JAN 30 JK police today arrested four more Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel taking the total number of arrests to eight in the alleged fake encounter of carpenter Abdul Rehman Padder. The exhumation of Padder's body from the grave was, however, delayed by yet another day as the forensic team from Chandigrah could not reach Srinagar today. Sources said that all the four arrested cops were part of the team that allegedly killed the carpenter from Kokernag area of South Kashmir in a fake encounter in Ganderbal area. The questioning of the cops is underway in a police station at Srinagar. The arrests were made after Farooq Ahmad Padder, arrested earlier, revealed some important details pertaining to the case. Meanwhile, questioning of the ASI Farooq Ahmad is also underway. Meanwhile, the special forensic team that was to fly in from Chandigarh to monitor the exhumation of Padder's body at Sumbal could not reach Srinagar because of some official delay thus delaying the exhumation by at least one more day. Official sources said that investigation team has decided to bring in another forensic expert team in addition to the team constituted in Srinagar for DNA analysis. Though the team could not reach Srinagar four SOG personnel associated with Ganderbal police were today arrested in a special raid following orders of their arrest issued by the DIG Central Kashmir and the investigating officer of the alleged fake encounter case, Farooq Ahmad. The arrested have been identified as head constables Mohammed Ashraf (Belt Number 120/IRP), Surinder (Belt Number (541/S) and Krishen Chand (Belt Number 602/ARMP) besides constable Shamim Ahmad (Belt Number 1104/Security). Police sources said that the four personnel were disarmed and thoroughly frisked before being driven away by a special team constituted for the raid. Sources said that the sleuths of the special team also frisked the baggage and living rooms of the four personnel while arresting them. All the four arrested personnel have been lodged in Srinagar's Shergari Police Station and their questioning inside the police station has already begun. Today's arrests have taken the total number of police cops detained in Padder's case to eight, sources said.
