Preservation of Lingam | HC issues notice in PIL | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 30: The High Court today issued notice in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking refrigeration in the Amarnath Cave to preserve the Lingam. A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Virender Singh and Justice Mohd Yaqoob Mir today heard Advocate LK Sharma for the PIL and issued notice to State of J&K through Chief Secretary, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board through its Chairman, Chief Executive Officer Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and Union of India through Secretary, Govt of India, Ministry of Home Affairs New Delhi. Advocate Deepaka Mahajan accepted notice on behalf of State of J&K, Senior Advocate UK Jalali accepted notice on behalf of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and KK Pangotra ASGI accepted it on behalf of Home Ministry. The court directed the respondents to file their response by or before June 8, 2012 with advance copy to counsel for the Public Interest Litigation. The PIL has been filed by Shiv Sewa Samiti, Bar Association Rajpura, district Patiala, Punjab seeking various directions to the respondents-state, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and Union of India regarding the 39 days Amarnath Ji Yatra seeking installation of refrigeration system in the Holy cave of Shri Amar Nath Ji in compliance with the decision taken in the 6th Board Meeting dated March 17, 2004, to remove generators and the bhattis of the Bhandaras which generate heat and smoke to preserve the longevity of the Ice Lingham of Lord Shiva beyond 2 Kms away from the Holy Cave, strictly enforce ban on smoking on both the tracks and at the Holy cave, direct the carriage of goods by ponies during nights only to avoid jams and smooth flow of the Yatris, install solar and electric system and electrification of the tracks on both routes i.e. Baltal to Holy Cave and Chandanwari to Holy Cave to enable the Yatris to complete their Yatra smoothly, widen both the tracks and construct temporary shelters and easing points on both the routes atleast at every 2KMs distance, establish medical centers at every 2 KMs on both the routes and also provide oxygen gas cylinders on such centers to enable the pilgrims to avail the facility as per their requirement, to provide contact numbers of police and medical centres on every registration card to enable the Yatris to contact them in case of any emergency, reserve 10 to 20% special quota for handicapped, senior citizens in the helicopter service, create and raise funds for making exgratia payment to the kith and kin of the pilgrims who die in the course of the pilgrimage / Yatra and arrange the carriage of their dead bodies to their homes.
