Trekkers eleven defeats DC eleven

UDHAMPUR, May 31:- To popularize the adventure Tourism, District Administration Udhampur under the guidance of the District Development Commissioner, P.K. Pole, has carved out a comprehensive strategy to explore virgin pockets so that more and more tourists coming to Jammu and Kashmir are enriched by the life time experience of scenic splendors couples with adventures.
The District Administration, Udhampur for this purpose deputed senior functionaries to trek the mighty mountainous climbs of Sanasar, Nathatop upto Patnitop with the trekkers of on going National Heritage Trek Expedition 2012. The event was well coordinated by Youth Hostels of Association of India in close collaboration with Directorate of Education, Tourism Jammu and Patnitop Developmental Authority.
The purpose was to give practical experience to the District Administration for creating infrastructure as well as chalking our a plan to highlight the tourist specific need in all ready identified trek circuit Lander - Sansar-Nathatop-Patnitop- Maantalai.
During the trekking of the officers had wide range interaction with the trekkers participating in the expedition from within and outside the state. A friendly of 10 over between DC Eleven and Trekkers Eleven was also played at Sanasar which was won by Trekkers Eleven by five wickets. A scintillating cultural programme was also organized on the occasion in which trekkers presented folk songs and dances of their respective states. The officers and trekkers were also expose to sports adventure like rippling, rock climbing, river crossing and paragliding at Sanasar.
President Youth Hostels of Association of India (YHAI), M.S. Pandit while interacting with the media said that many interventions like understanding of the earth and the universe, the flora and fauna, the wild life, personality development and awareness about Right to Information Act have been added to make the programme more useful and more attractive. He further said that YHAI shall open more avenues for trekking which would help to promote the adventure tourism in the StateAmong others, State Director Adventure Promotion, YHAI, J&K State Branch, K. K. Gand-otra, Chairman YHAI, J&K State branch, Padam Shree S. P. Verma, Joint Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, Chief Executive Officer, Patnitop Development Authority, Dr.Raman Kesal and senior officers were the part of the programme.
