Shimla-based Jammu girl outshines in NIFT with 25-rank in the country | | | early times report JAMMU, May 31: Akshita Sharma, daughter of Jammu-born journalist Ashwani Sharma ,a special Correspondent of the Indian Express at Shimla, has cracked National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) exam getting overall 25-rank in the final list declared on Tuesday evening. Earlier in her written test for the NIFT she had ranked 6th in the merit list .After her situation test---where she was asked to create a scene of circus /fashion show based on certain products and items given,she excelled among nearly 10,000 students securing 21st position in her general merit category. Earlier in her Indian School certificate (ISC) board exams she had topped in the merit list scoring 92.75 percent marks in the humanities stream and ranked third in Himachal Pradesh.She was student of Shimla's 148-year old Auckland House Public school,Shimla. A hardworking girl right from her 10th standard she had excelled in several state level and inter-school painting and sketch making competitions in shimla.She has won several prizes in the competitions. With her high rank,she will be getting Delhi centre of NIFT and has a choice to select any fashion design discipline. Her preference is fashion designing and fashion commu-nications.NIFT ,which comes under the ministry of textiles has 15 centres all over the country and admissions are done on the basis of the all India merit list. Akshita 's family hails from village Karloop in Jammu but she is born and studied at Shimla.She gives credit of her success to her teachers at Auckland House and parents. |
