White Knight corps celebrate 40th Raising Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 1: The White Knight Corps celebrates its 40th Raising Day today (01 June 2012). In the Special Order of the Day, Lieutenant General AS Nandal, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps, complimented all ranks for their outstanding contribution towards combating militancy and assisting the Administration in regaining normalcy. He exhorted the troops to be ever conscious of and emulate the tremendous sacrifice of comrades-in-arms that has helped usher in the present state of normalcy. The GOC was confident, that in the the White Knight fraternity, would continue to scale ever greater heights of success, in future too. The White Knight Corps was raised on 01 June 1972, after the 1971 Indo-Pak War, and in the last four decades since its raising, the White Knight Corps has grown to become one of the largest and operationally vibrant formations of the Indian Army. Its area of responsibility, encompasses a diverse spectrum of terrain, which ranges from the snow-capped mountains; hilly areas; riverine tracts, as also developed terrain. Corps is operationally committed in guarding the International Border; in maintaining the sanctity of the Line of Control and in combating militancy effectively, all of which have resulted in the restoration of near normalcy in the region. Apart from its operational commitments, The White Knight Corps is also actively involved in identifying. and undertaking various developmental projects, both infrastructural as well as Human Resource Development (HRD) viz: imparting of vocational training / skills; job interview facing techniques related etc, under the ambit of Op- Sadbhavna, that have been instrumental in empowering the under-privileged sections of the populace, in the remote and under-developed areas of the region, and ameliorating their lot. |
