3rd Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Cricket Tourney | Raj Kumar's ton guides JU to easy win | | early times report JAMMU, June 1: Brilliant century from Raj Kumar today helped University of Jammu (JU) XI register an easy 135 runs win over Government SPMR College of Commerce in the ongoing 3rd Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Memorial Cricket Tournament, organised by Jammu wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here. Star striker, Raj Kumar faced 100 deliveries to make 111 runs with the help of three sixes and 11 boundaries. Earlier, batting first, after Commerce College won the toss and opted to field, JU set a target of 261 runs losing all their wickets in 48.5 overs. Besides Raj Kumar's century, Kulvinder and Amit also played well contributing 36 and 26 runs respectively. From Commerce College, Pankaj was most successful bowler with four wickets while Parshant and Shubham took two each. In reply, Commerce College could not do well and lost wickets on regular intervals thereby making an end to their innings at 125 in 34.3 overs. Ravi Kumar remained top scorer with 25 runs, followed by Ravi Kumar and Prashant, who added 18 and 11 runs respectively to the team's total. Rajesh, Amit, Raj Kumar and Vishal Soodan took two wickets each from JU XI while Abhinav bagged one. Among these bowlers, Vishal bowled impressive spell of two for seven runs in 2.3 overs. Today's match was officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman and Harsh Nayyar while Raghav Verma was scorer. |
