| BSNL staff stage token strike at GMTD Office | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jun1: in response to the call of Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations, the employees staged a massive demonstration during lunch hours at GMTD Office, Rail Head Complex, to impress the authorities to concede to their various demands.
Speakers namely Com Nisar Ahmad Circle Secretary BSNLEU J&K & JAC Convenor, Com S K Mahaldar Circle Convenor SNEA(I) & Chairman JAC, Com R J Kaw Circle Secretary AIBSNLEA, Com Pushkar AIGTEOA, Com P K Bali Distt Secretary Jammu, Com T B Gadoo, Com N S Manhas, Com M K Kaul, Com Bansi Lal and others highlighted the demands of the employees. The protestors said the wage disparity between BSNL absorbed officers and the non-BSNL Indian Telecom Service officers should be removed as accepted by the government during the earlier talks. Revision of pay fitment benefit at the rate of 78.20 per cent from January 1, 2007 should be implemented. Revision of perks and allowances such as transport allowance, children education assistance, family planning allowance, professional upgradation allowance, payment of medical allowance on quarterly basis, restoration of all-India Leave Travel Assistance etc. after the revision of pay scale should be implemented. BSNL Employees Union district president D. Gopalan presided over today's protest.
"If our demands are not met, we'll stage mass dharna on June 6 in front of the BSNL offices. "The government is still adamant, we'll go on indefinite strike from June 13 onwards," said the leaders of protesting trade unions. |
