| Govt working vigorously to maintain peace: Omar | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR , June 1 : Jammu and Kashmir government is working "vigorously" for permanent peace and sustained development in the state, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said. "A well-defined roadmap to reach out all areas and all sections of the society is being followed along with facilitating the process of restoration of permanent peace," Omar said during 'Awami Mulakat' (meet the people) here.
The Chief Minister said the initiatives undertaken by his government, to focus on development and peace simultaneously, have started yielding visible results."From the day I assumed the charge of chief minister, my government's attention was on addressing political issues and economic betterment of the state," Omar said.
The past three years of the coalition government speak loudly for the positive developments achieved on both these fronts, he added.
Omar said peace was imperative to resolve issues and give necessary fillip to the development process. The Chief Minister said state cabinet has taken historic decisions regarding empowering people, bringing transparency in the functioning of administration, making public delivery time bound and the government answerable before the common masses. The necessary legislations enacted during the last three years to strengthen the institutions and check malpractices and corruption in public dealing have been widely recognised as noteworthy and effective decision of the government, Omar claimed. |
