Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 1: Supporters of Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, who has been asked by the APHC chief,Molvi Umar Farooq,to explain as to why action should not be taken against him on charge of having violated the Hurriyat constitution by saying publicly that implementation of the UN resolution on Kashmir was impracticable, feel upset over the notice issued to Bhat on the plea that he(Bhat) had given vent to his ideas and it was for the APHC to accept or reject it. Bhat 's supporters said that action should be taken against those who created a ruckus within the separatist conglomerate. They said it is not Bhat but people like Nayeem Khan,Azam Iqualibi and Shabir Ahmed Shah who have broken Hurriyat principles and rules. When contacted by the KIP for his reaction Prof. Bhat said "since he is yet to receive the notice from Molvi Umar Farooq it would not be possible for me to reveal what sand I shall take on the matter." When asked "whether you have violated the Hurriyat constitution by indicating that implementation of the UN resolution on Kashmir was impracticable" Bhat said "it is too early to comment. My reaction will be known only after I receive the letter from Molvi Umar F arooq."Asked whether he considers himself as a disciplined soldier of the Hurriyat conference Bhat said "Yes I continue to be a disciplined member of the All Party Hurriyat Conference."
Inside reports said that Molvi Umar Farooq has issued notices to all those leaders who had created a ruckus following Bhat's statement on the UN resolution. This has been done to isolate Prof.Bhat from the organization. During all these years Molvi Umar Farooq has been banking on guidance and support from Prof Bhat and as such it would be a great setback for the Hurriyat conference if Prof Bhat is forced to quit the conglomerate. Already the moderates among the separatists have lost much of their ground and the hardliners. led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, have regained the ground that they had lost during the last two years.
It is in this context that Molvi Umar Farooq is trying to bring about reconciliation among the warring leaders in the amalgam. Reports said that after receiving replies from all those who have been served with the notices Molvi Umar Farooq will convene a meeting of the APHC executive committee so that the differences among the leaders of various constituents were ironed out.
