Kishtwar, Jun 1: With the recovery of Pak actress Laila Khan's Outlander from the town, security agencies hoped to unfold a major plan of militant organisations to hit some Indian cities, including Mumbai and Delhi.
As the police investigation moved forward, it hinted that the vehicle was allegedly used in the execution of terrorist attack outside Delhi High Court in the month of September last year, killing 16 people and injuring 80 others.
Police sources said that the Outlander, which was hidden inside a shop closed for the past few months, was to be used in some big militant act in Mumbai as terrorist organizations had failed to carry out any major attack in Mumbai since 26/11.
Sources said there was a possibility that the Kashmiri youth whose fake name was Ateeq and who used to live with the family of Laila Khan might have conducted a recce of possible terror targets in Mumbai and its adjoining areas.
DIG of Doda-Kishtwar range, Gareeb Dass informed that police were already on the job to arrest Parvaiz Iqbal Tak, who was absconding.
He said that once Tak was arrested, police would come to know about the conspiracy that led to the dumping of Laila Khan's car in Kishtwar. Tak is wanted by Kishtwar police in many alleged fraud cases.
He said the vehicle did not contain any explosive. He said that since the seized vehicle belongs to Laila Khan, who was missing along with her family since last year, police did not rule out the hand of criminal elements in hiding the vehicle in Kishtwar.
Meanwhile, Kishtwar police and intelligence agencies here had intensified searches to find out another Maharashtra vehicle, a Cello car, which was seen here some weeks ago.
Meanwhile, a team of anti-terrorist squad of Mumbai, which was already looking into Laila's mysterious missing case, was yet to reach Kishtwar.
Sources said that Kishtwar police and ATS, Mumbai, would attempt to open the locks of the seized vehicle.
The ATS was likely to seek the help of forensic experts to get some clues that could help them in solving the case of mysterious disappearance of Laila Khan and her family members.
