VHP levels serious allegation on SASB, reiterates to start yatra on Jesht Purnima | | | early times report JAMMU, Jun 1: VHP today came down heavily on Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and accused it of furthering the agenda of separatists by curtailing the yatri period from two months to 45 days. By trying to curtail the two month long annual Amarnath yatra to 45 days this year the Board was trying to please the separatists who wanted the yatri be closed once for all, VHP international spokesperson Dr Surinder Jain told reporters along with state president of Hindu body Dr Rama Kant Dubey. Ridiculing the pictures of the track relased by Board to media here yesterday showing that both tracks are coverd with heavy snow, Dr Jain said if the snow covered mountains will be not at Amarnath will they be at Raghunath Bazar of Jammu. The yatris even going in August have to cross the glaciers at various places enroute to holy cave and there is nothing new in it. Dr Jain while reiterating the resolve of VHP to start the yatri on June 3 from Jammu said that no power on earth can stop the Hindus to start the pilgrimage on Jesht Purnima a traditional date of yatri and Shiv Bhakts from all over India will reach here tomorrow to proceed further. He appealed the Board not to do any thing which can be tantamount to national unity and integrity. ``The Board should restrain from taking any step which will be against the national interests as VHP is ready to face any thing but we appeal Board to restrain from taking any such step which will be against the national interests''. ``They can thrash us or commit atrocities on us but we appeal them not to play with national cause'', he added. Ridiculing the Government claim that it is not going to take any risk by starting yatri on June 4 due to inclement weather conditions and snow bound track so that there should not be any causality, Dr Jain said what guarantee the Government or the Board has that the weather will be pleasant on June 25 the official schedule of yatri. Quoting a story published by a national Hindi daily in April which said that some youth performed darshan in holy cave on April 18 the VHP leader said that if track was through at that time why can't be it in June. He said the pictures of two tracks published by the Board yesterday have been taken on different occasions to deceive and mislead the people of country. He said BJP leader will reach Jammu on schedule time and date and she will lead thousands of Shiv Bhakts to the holy cave on the first date of yatri. He warned that Shiv Bhakts will launch nationwide Andolan in case the Government tried to use force. Dr Jain also lashed out at authorities and Board for trying to divide the people of Jammu on yatri issue and saying that their designs have been frustrated as Jammuites showed unity on the issue and they are one. He also took serious exception to the reported statements of one of the officers of the Government asking the Amarnatnath Yatria Niyas office bearers do not talk of Natoanl agenda after crossing Lakhanpur and wanted to know what the Government wanted to convey by making such a statement. ``Should we talk of separatists agenda here instead of national agenda,'' he added. The Board and VHP are on logger heads over the Amarnath yatri issue this year again while the VHP wants to start the yatri on Jesht Purnima falling on June 4, the Board wants that yatri should run from June 25. Yesterday the Government convened the meeting of various social and trade organizations of the Jammu and made an appeal to the people to shun the June 4 date of the yatra. The meeting however decided to perform symbolic pooja on June 4 which has been rejected by VHP. Since 2008 the Amarnath yatra has been facing the controversy and the Board and Hindu bodies were on logger heads since then over the duration of yatra.
