EARLY TIMES REORT
JAMMU, Jun 2: Activists of National Panthers Students Union (NPSU) held a protest demonstration against PDD at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The protest was led by (Pradesh President NPSU). They were carrying party flags and raising slogans against the department for long power cuts in Jammu.
Jamwal while addressing the media said that the PDD has been harassing the consumers of Jammu by imposing 14-15 hours cuts of electricity in different areas of Jammu when the temperature is surging. He said that the same department provides regular electricity to Chief Minister, his ministerial colleagues and bureaucrats. When the Secretariat is in Jammu the government quarters housing the move employees get 24 hour uninterrupted supply of electricity and with the Darbar move, PDD adopts an anti-consumer approach and imposes curtailment of electricity beyond the scheduled cuts. He said that the ministers and bureaucrats have been given special lines for the uninterrupted supply of electricity. For them there is no shortage of electricity but the common consumers are made to suffer. Jamwal regretted that the people of Jammu region who are paying their power bills on time are being to face the unscheduled power cuts which is affecting the education of our children and due to which the water supply has been affected badly. Criticizing the local leaders and ministers from Jammu region, he said, the leaders who are the voice of Jammu in the State Assembly have failed to take-up our issues in a right manner. "The time has come for the people of Jammu to teach a lesson to all the leaders of Jammu as the people have lost faith in them" he added.
NPSU warned the authorities to stop these unscheduled power cuts otherwise the NPSU activists would come on roads to protest against these cuts. After this NPSU activists burnt the effigy of Minister of PDD and raised slogans against the PDD Dept.
