| Kamaal turns pro-Delhi | | Says centre has always ‘been on our back’ | | Early Times Report
Sonawari/Sumbal, Jun 2: Seeking restoration of autonomy, additional general secretary of National Conference (NC), Dr Mustafa Kamaal said People’s Democratic party (PDP) was a creation of communal forces with the object of eliminating Kashmiris. He was addressing a worker convention here today. The convention was attended by Speaker Legislative Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone, Member Parliament Sharief-ud-din Shariq, Provincial President Ali Mohammad Dar and Party Spokesman Tanvir Sadiq. The leaders asked the centre to fulfill its commitment and restore Autonomy so that a new era of mutual trust is started.
Mustafa Kamaal said that New Delhi has always been on our back to help us economically. "It has always been generous enough to ensure that we develop the state but added Kashmir is not a financial matter and needs a serious initiative to ensure that we address the political aspirations of the people of the state", he said.
" Political aspiration of the people can only be addressed when all the stake holders put their heads together and understand the importance of restoring autonomy", he said.
He said, " Sooner or later everyone has to agree with National Conference because we have sacrificed a lot and no one can deny us the right to autonomy."
" We should strengthen the hands of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is working overtime to ensure peace , prosperity, progress are achieved and our people feel safe and economically sound", he said.
He said , "Omar Sahib in all the forums has maintained that Kashmir issue should be addressed through political means and Justice Sageer committee recommendations on autonomy should be restored."
On Kashmir history and contribution of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Kamaal said that Kashmiri's were slaves and it was his father who fought against the tyranny and atrocities and gave democratic and property rights to people of the state.
Sharief-ul-Din Shariq while lashing out at PDP, said that they are the creation of BJP to eliminate people of Kashmir. He said that under a well planned conspiracy PDP Patron was appointed Home Minister to eliminate people of Kashmir and he along with then Governor Jagmohan succeeded in their mission, but added that now the party and loyal soldiers will give our blood to ensure that such scheming politicians bite the dust and ensure that they do not emotionally blackmail people anymore.
"People of the state have complete faith in NC leadership and they are aware that the party is committed to resolve all problems of the people on priority bases.
Meanwhile, amidst thundering applause the Member Parliament Shariq sanctioned Rs 50 lakh from his constituency development fund for various developmental works in Sumbal, Sonawari constituency.
Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone said that Omar Abdullah government is committed for the development of all the three regions of the state. He said that among the many initiatives taken by the Omar Abdullah led government, the right to information Act (RTI), accountability commission, Sher-e-Kashmir employment and welfare programme for unemployed youths, Panchayat elections and public service guarantee act are for the welfare of the people.
"The decisions of Omar sahib are showing positive results and people are appreciating the decisions of Omar Abdullah government," Lone said.
Provincial president Ali Mohammad Dar urged upon the party workers to strengthen the party. He said that purpose of conducting these party conventions in all the blocks of the state is to make our people aware about the policies and programmes of Omar Abdullah led Party.
NC spokesman Tanvir Sadiq said that youth of the state must benefit from various employment schemes started by our young and dynamic Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He said that the working president has all along said that youth are the pillars of our party and we should ensure that young minds and brains are encouraged.
"Omar Sahib is aware of all the pains and difficulties our people are facing but he has assured that he will very soon ensure that your personal problems will be addressed and a new dawn of prosperity will usher in your lives" said Tanvir
Tanvir said we have to understand that a lot of people have been consigned to mother earth and their aspiration, their values and their sacrifices should not go waste and a political solution in terms of autonomy should be achieved.
Sadiq said that we should be prepared for the BDC election and ensure good and hardworking people are given a chance to lead the blocks.
