| CRPF personnel succumbs to his injuries | | | SRINAGAR, JAN 31 A Central Reserve Police Force personnel today succumbed to his injuries here after battling for life for the past eight days, raising the death toll in an IED explosion in Pulwama district, a police spokesman said.
Head Constable P Davinder of 143rd battalion, who was among five personnel critically injured in the IED blast triggered by militants in Awantipora area of Pulwama district on January 23, succumbed at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, the spokesman said.
Three CRPF personnel were killed in the blast which completely damaged a vehicle of the CRPF.
A road opening party of the army recovered an IED, weighing several kilograms, at Sheeri on Srinagar-Uri national highway and was later defused by the experts, foiling militants plan to set off an explosion, the spokesman said.
A police party also detected a live hand grenade on a road at Tapper-Payeen in Pattan area of Baramulla district this afternoon, he said, adding the explosive was defused by the experts of bomb disposal squad who were summoned from Baramulla district headquarters.
