Natrang presents Urdu comedy play 'Intezaar' in Sunday Theatre series | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 3: This Sunday, Urdu comedy play 'Intezaar' staged at Natrang Studio Theatre in Sunday Theatre series. The play has been written by Sadat Hassan Manto and was beautifully adapted and directed by Sumeet Sharma. The new and contemporary elements added in the play sharpened its impact, The situational comedy was further enhanced which made laughter irresistible for the audience. As the Urdu world is celebrating Centenary of Sadat Hassan Manto, Natrang also contributed it's bit to salute one of the most celebrated short story writer of the times. Speaking on the occasion, Balwant Thakur, Director Natrang informed that Natrang is starting its much awaited Children Theatre Workshop from 7th of June, 2012 at two venues, Amar Singh Club and Natrang Studio, under the direction of Sumeet Sharma who has been doing exceptionally good theatre with children for the last eight years, the registration for which is already open. The play opens in a very hilarious situation in which 'Mantazar' is waiting for his beloved to come to meet him in a much awaited date. 'Mantazar' is waiting for her very anxiously, to the extent that even half an hour is very difficult to spend. He speaks with his own self and innovates different ways to pass the time calmly, he discusses the daily budget, music, literature etc. whatever he could think to divert his attention from the palpitation which he is feeling in the process of waiting, but nothing works. To make the situation even worse, some unwanted guests arrive which make his condition miserable. Finally when the time of meeting comes and the girl friend arrives, he falls unconscious because of overtiredness. The girl friend thinks he is unconcerned about the meeting and is sleeping, in the disgust, she leaves and the much awaited meeting turns to be a disaster which steered the comedy towards an irony. Mohit Sharma as 'Mantazar' exhibited his talent as a versatile actor. He was equally supported by Sumeet Sharma as his Inner Self. Tajasvi Sharma as the girl friend was also very impressive in her short but important appearance. Pawan Verma as Friend, Shivika Verma as 'Mausi' and Vishal Sharma as Newspaper Vendor also played their part well. Lights were operated by Gaurav Jamwal and sound was executed by Ashwini Bali.
