Historic Sudhmahadev Mela gets underway | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, June 3: Member Legislative Assembly , K.C. Bhagat along with District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, P.K Pole today inaugurated 3-day historic Sudhmahadev mela in Chenani tehsil of Udhampur district. The 3-day mela got underway amidst festivity with huge participation of men, woman and children who thronged Sudhmahadev temple to seek the blessing of Lord Shiva on the first day of three-day mela. On the first day the devotees first took bath in the Beenisangam called Budhisudhi rivulet, which flows out from top of the Dhar Shivgarh and is considered as abode of innumerable saints. The devotees also took bath in sin destroying spring (Pap Nashni bowli) situated just at the entrance of the temple about which it is said that a holy dip in this spring purifies the devotees of all evils. Chief Executive Officer Patnitop Development Authority, Dr. Raman Kesar, District Information Officer, Udhampur, Dr. Jagdish Mehra, Tehsildar Chenani, (mela officer), S.N. Suman, officers of different departments, Tourists, pilgrims, prominent citizens and Local Mela Committee members were also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, DDC extended his warm and good wishes to the people on the auspicious Sudhmahadev mela days and hoped that the festival would be celebrated with fervour and gaiety. District administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Mela like uninterrupted power, safe drinking water, sanitation, medicare, Police Control Room, assistance booth and security have been made at the mela site beside various departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, Health, National Rural Health Mission, Apiculture, Handicraft, Handloom and Animal Husbandry have put up their departmental stall to educate the masses about the various state and centrally sponsored schemes especially for socio economic upliftment. For the facility of the pilgrims adequate arrangements of tentage have been made at Maantali. The Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust have beautifully decorated the shrine beside made arrangements of providing best facilities to devotees visiting the ancient Temple Shrine of Lord Shiva so that they do not encounter any difficulty in paying obeisance at the shrine during Mela days. Number of temporary sweet shops, toy shops and other eatable corners by the locals as well as outside vendors were the main attraction for the general public visiting the mela site. Many Social Organizations serving free community langer for the visitors during the mela days. |
