Hundreds participate in Jammu Cyclothon to emphasize clean Environment

Jammu, June 3: Nearly one thousand two hundred participants took part in the BSA Hercules Jammu Cyclothon. Participants not only from Jammu City, but far flung areas of the state came in large numbers to join the BSA Hercules Jammu Cyclothon. MLC Jugal Kishore Sharma himself participated in the BSA Hercules Jammu Cyclothon. The Cyclothon was organized by the Board of Development for Sports in India (BDSI) to promote cycling as a sport in the state and generate an awareness regarding protection and conservation of environment.
The cyclothon was flagged off by the MLC Jugal Kishore from Satwari Chowk. He laid stress on the use of cycling for environment protection. Jugal Kishore Sharma said that it is high time we start taking our environment seriously.
Amit Sethi, Director BDSI, thanked the representative of the J&K State Sports Council Rajan Sharma, the sports officer and J&K Cycling Association for their support and guidance to the event.
The BSA Hercules Jammu Cyclothon culminated at the Dussehra Ground after passing through various parts of the city. In Junior category (female) Vishali of Akhnoor won the first prize while Deepika Manhas secured second and Jaspreet Kaur secured third position. In Junior Category (male) Boby secured first, while Prabjot Singh second and Mohit came at third. In senior category (female) Anjali choudhary secured first, while Sukhleen Kaur and Mandeep kaur secured 2nd and 3rd position respectively. In senior (male), Darmender Singh secured first position while Ravinder and prince choudhary securing 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
Among those present at the occasion were Yash Pal Verma (Ex-Chairman, Reasi Municipal Corp.), Kuldeep Raj Gupta from Mahatama Gandhi Intellectual Society, Bharat Bhushan (ex-corporator), Hardev Singh (ex-Corp. Cantonment Satwari), Surjeet Singh Chib, Sanjay Gupta, Surinder Yadav, Veerain Kaul, Sandeep Didwal Sagar Gupta, Anam Khosla, Sukhmeet Kaur and others.
