| Taj assures action against defaulters | | | Jammu, January 31 Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din has said that stern action would be taken against the culprits involved in black marketing of levy kerosene oil in the state. Addressing a Press Conference here today, Mr. Taj said that the mafia has been unearthed in misusing the kerosene oil. He said that in ward No. 21 of Gandhinagar having 88 k.oil retail outlets with a monthly requirement of 6000 liters of k. oil, 44,000 liters were being provided thereby making a leakage of 38,000 liters of levy kerosene oil. Mr Taj Mohi-ud-Din said that as soon as the matter came to his knowledge he quickly issued orders for suspension of the officials of the department involved in the racket and to hold the inquiry of the embezzlement .He said that Additional Secretary CAPD Mr. Bhagat would hold the inquiry and submit the reports within two weeks time. He said that 225 k.oil licenses has also been cancelled. Expressing his displeasure over the politicizing of the issue by some political parties, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din clarified that whosoever found involved in the embezzlements would not be spared for causing loss to the state exchequer and also making the consumers to suffer for want of timely supply of essential commodities. Making a comparison of ration tickets and k. oil depots in twin cities of Srinagar and Jammu, the Minister said that in Srinagar city for 1,61, 987 ration tickets there are only 452 k.oil depots whileas in Jammu city for 84684 ration tickets there are 1111 k. oil depots adding that there is no need to give the issue a regional trend as alleged by some political party.
