Prof Gupta expresses resentment over power crisis | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jun 3: Expressing his strong resentment over the power crises in Jammu city and its adjoining areas, the former Union Minister and MLA Jammu West Prof Chaman Lal Gupta observed that it was intriguing that this situation has mysteriously developed immediately after the darbar move from this winter capital to the summer one at Srinagar. Prof Gupta said that it is matter of investigation that what has led to this serious situation especially when the mercury has crossed 40 degrees and people are faced with scorching heat of the summer. The scheduled and unscheduled cuts have paralysed the whole life because of this power crisis badly affecting even the supply of drinking water as also the life in many other ways including the business and industry. Prof Gupta said that the ruling leaders owe an explanation to the people that why they have failed to harness the vast Hydle power potential despite spending thousands of crores in the name of execution of power projects in the State during the past over 60 years of planning now. Their failure is very much evident from the fact that they could not exploit even 10% of the total Hydle power potential of over 20,000 Mega watts of this State. He said their mismanagement of the whole affair coupled with the regional bias is adding to the woes of Jammuites and must be looked into. |
