Use trained SSB volunteers as resource persons

Jammu, Jun 4: The Special Service Bureau or Sshastra Seema Bal (SSB) volunteers in J&K have once again reiterated their demands of their rehabilitation and urged the state government to use skilled SSB volunteers as resource persons in various vocational courses.
"There are 1697 volunteers in Jammu & Kashmir who are associated in SSB activities prior to year 2001, stated KD Singh, Chairman, SSB Volunteer Welfare Society (J&K).
Singh further stated that these skilled SSB volunteers are valuable and well trained resources and these skilled sources needs to be utilized in a variety of projects/schemes. He added that the state Government may consider issuing appropriate orders regarding this matter.
Further mentioning to the directions in this regard, "Director General, SSB (Ministry of Home Affairs) had framed a scheme for SSB Volunteers which was sent vide letter No.2/75/SSB/VIP/8Pers-II-8036, dated 9th May, 2011 in pursuance of Himachal Pradesh High Court decision/orders in case of for CWP No. 469/2007, CWP No. 470 & 506 of 2007." "The decision was given on 25/9/2008 and in the similar case of CWP 5080/2009 and CWP 103/2010, the court decision by the Divisional Bench decided by Chief Justice Jurein Joseph & Judge R.B Mishra on 24/2/2010 & 26/2/2010 respectively gave the judgement for absorbing the SSB Volunteers in Para Military forces including Armed Forces, he added.The court directed the respondents to frame a scheme for SSB Volunteers and the matter has been further considered in the Home Ministry and had given directions to J&K Government vide their D.O letter No. 2/75/09/ItVs/Pers-III/1566-68, dated 3/2/2012 and it is felt that the services of such intensity trained SSB's volunteers can possibly be utilized in State Police Organization as Special Police Officers, Special Tiger Force, Forest/Wild Life Protection Forces/Home Guard, Vocational training in foods extract products, agro products, poultry, piggery, fishery, installing non-conventional energy etc.
