Early Times Report
Kishtwar, June 4: The people and the students of Higher Secondary School Yardoo (Marwah) jointly held Tahsildar Marwah Falail Singh hostage for more than two hours when he came to pacify the protesters seeking proper staff for the school. The school has one Persian teacher catering to the needs of around 700 students. According to the reports, the people are agitating the issue at Tehsil headquarters for the past ten days. They are also demanding stern action against the officials who often remain absent from duty.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Saleem Mohammad confirmed the reports of holding Tehsildar Marwah hostage. He said the people have a right to protest but in a peaceful and democratic way.
He said holding Tehsildar hostage will not help in solving the problem in any case. He said that District Administration is already on job and the government has been informed about the shortage of teachers in the tehsil. He said a detailed massage was faxed to Commissioner Secretary Education today with a request for filling of vacant posts. The Deputy Commissioner talked to the Tehsildar and urged him to make a list of officers who fail to report for their duties. He said that after intervention of District Administration, Deputy Chief Education Officer Kishtwar in consultation with Director School Education Jammu issued order No: CEO/K/12/878 dated 28-05-2012 in which 5 teachers were posted in HSS Yardoo (Marwah) to pacify the agitating people. However, the teachers failed to report for their duties triggering protests. Meanwhile Deputy CEO Kishtwar has reportedly left the station without prior permission from the office of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar and handed over the charge to one class IV employee posted in CEO office.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar said that he had already complaint received. Directions have been issued to the ACR Kishtwar to look into the matter, he said.Keeping in view the hostile weather conditions and tough terrain, one among the educated youths is ready to do the job in the area on adhoc basis at the rate of Rs 7000/months.
MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo has already submitted the proposal to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in which a demand for monthly pay of Rs. 15000/month for adhoc teachers has been made.
