| Poor connectivity leaves BSNL Rajouri customers 'high and dry' | | Connecting India still a distant dream | | early times report
Rajouri, June 4: The poor services of the only public sector telecom service provider BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd) has completely left its users high and dry who are facing a lot of problems due to the 'flop show' of cellular services and internet facility of BSNL in Rajouri and its surroundings.
Since the formal introduction of the cellular services in border districts Rajouri and Poonch the public sector tele service provider has failed to come upto the expectations of the consumers. The BSNL services have become an headache instead of a basic service BSNL consumers namely Kuldeep Sharma, Sumit Sharma, Vipan Gupta & many others lamented what is their fault to show faith in public services offered by the government. "Whenever a caller dials the messages like 'Network Busy and Connection Error' often appear on the screen and call gets disconnected, they said and further rued that much projected slogans of BSNL 'connecting India is perhaps a dream for people and the service providers itself.
Not only the cellular services but the internet services too have come down, many internet surfers and the internet café owners complained.
Asif Kassana a local from Rajouri said that even after holding strong protests and warning to lock BSNL main exchange, no improvement in bad service has been observed and BSNL services are further deteriorating with each passing day.
Local populace in Rajouri questioned if private telecom service providers viz. Bharti Airtel, Aircel, Vodafone, Idea and Reliance are providing good service to Rajouri than why BSNL is failing badly in the same terrain. Locals also demanded higher BSNL authorities and Ministry of Telecommunication to take strict action on the issue and to take stern action for improvement of BSNL in Rajouri who have failed to extend better services in the area.
Already aggrieved with the poor services, the BSNL subscribers today faced inconvenience due to fluctuating service of mobile phones while the Internet services also have come down in the Rajouri, Noweshra, Kalakote, Sunderbani Thanamandi, Manjakot, Surunkote, Mendar & Poonch areas. The subscribers, including pilgrims visiting to various religious shrines in the area i.e. Shadra Shrif Thanamandi, Palma Mandir, Baba Banda Singh Badhur singh Gurudwara and cave shrine Shiv Khori are facing problems due to poor connectivity.
When contacted Telecom District Manager, BSNL, Rajouri (Circle), R D Pramal said, "Due to some technical snag on the Rajouri Poonch OFC link, there were some problems in cellular services in Rajouri."
He however added that the services would be made functional by last four days as repair work had started.
