Omar defies his own logic with short-circuted truth

early times report
Jammu, June 4: Chief minister Omar Abdullah questioning the logic of protests in Jammu against curtailment of Amarnath Yatra said the truth is inconvenient. It's indeed inconvenient if looked in proper perspective and not through the prism of your convenience.
Even a cursory look at the past figures would suggest that yatra has increased when the duration has been increased, From 2005 till 2009 the duration has been 60-day and it increased from 3,88,000 (2005) to 5,33,368(2009).
The fact remains that the weather condition was not different at that time. And going by the logic of the Board and CM, that weather condition is not favourable, the figures clearly show that despite the odd weather condition, yatris continued to come in.
It was also the time when security situation was improved and was in contrast to present day time, when the terrorism is at its low a fact acknowledged by Omar itself.
The Board is relying on the recommendations of the Nitesh Sen Gupta report which had asked the curtailment of duration of yatra after 1996 tragedy.
However, it's strange that till 2010 no government could spare a thought to bring out this report in public and raise a debate over it.
It's has been used as a logic only after 2008 Amarnath yatra row. The Chief Minister must be reminded of the truth that during a speech in Parliament he had passionately said not a single inch of land would be given by Kashmiris.
It was the speech of MP who swear by the constitution of India and are supposed to work in the interest of the nation.
Omar who had graduated from being MP to the CM in this period, can't hide the truth that propaganda to lessen the duration of the yatra was started by separatist, with sinister designs, and he by his speech had in fact supported it.

Another logic given by Omar is that he would ask protestors to take a aerial survey of the track. But if any government in the past made same offer when track conditions were also not different. But they made arrangements for yatris for full 60-days.
Weather conditions are simple an excuse. The might of State can't wilted by few inches of snow here and there. But what is happening is that CM is deliberately making the writ of the State to wilt so as to please separatists, a constituency which he wants to capture, but what he loosing in sight and missing the truth that this consitituency is only waning and wouldn't help the CM, who is bogged down by deaths of children, youth and Haji Yousaf.
