By abolishing untouchability, Ravi Dasji’s dream was realized: Azad
Shobha Yatra flagged-off by CM

Paying glorious tributes to Shri Guru Ravi Dasji on his birth anniversary at an impressive function here today, Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that spiritual personalities are common legacy of all as they guide every one towards the path of peace, secularism, equality, harmony and amity.
Chief Minister said that Shri Guru Ravi Dasji devoted his entire life for eradication of untouchability, casteism and other social evils and propagated the message of tranquility and brotherhood. He said Guruji’s teachings and philosophy is relevant for all times to come. He said only such personalities are remembered for centuries to come who work for the well-being of entire humanity and their message has universal relevance.
Mr. Azad said that to provide equal opportunities of progress to all sections of society adequate provisions were made in the constitution of the country and the evil of untouchability was abolished. He said under the dynamic leadership of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru all sections of the society marched on path of progress after India got freedom. He said now all sections have representation right from parliament to panchayat level.
He said the dream which Shri Guru Ravi Dasji had dreamt over 600 years ago, is being fulfilled with untiring efforts of all of us. He called upon the people to strengthen secularism, communal harmony, amity and brotherhood and work for lasting peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
Referring to the demands projected by Shri Guru Ravi Das Sabha on the occasion, Mr. Azad said that these would be given due consideration.
Chief Minister flagged-off an unprecedented Shobha Yatra spread to miles taken out on the eve of birthday of Shri Guru Ravi Dasji.
Convenor Shri Guru Ravi Das Sabha Mr. Piran Ditta speaking on the occasion, presented demands of the Sabha.
Ex-MLA Mrs. Swaran Lata threw light on the philosophy and teachings of Shri Guru Ravi Dasji and impressed upon the people to follow the path shown by Guruji.
Swami Gurdeep Giriji Maharaj spoke extensively about the teachings of Guruji and said that Guruji propagated the message of peace and harmony.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Mr. Chaman Lal Banal, Dr. D. D. Shivgotra, Mr. Chaman Lal and Mr. Badri Nath.
