Additional security forces from Centre for Amarnath yatra | | | Early Times REport
Srinagar, June 5: The Centre has decided to provide additional security forces to Jammu and Kashmir government for making effective arrangements for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage, starting from June 25. More than three lakhs pilgrims have so far registered themselves for undertaking the pilgrimage this year. Special Secretary Internal Security, Union Home Ministry Ajay Chadha called on Governor N N Vohra, who is also chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB). Chadha, who was accompanied by Joint Secretary (Kashmir) Union Home Ministry, K Skandan, briefed the Governor about his aerial reconnaissance of the yatra route and the deployments being made for providing effective security arrangements for this year's yatra. The Governor also discussed with Chadha about the importance of traffic being effectively regulated during the yatra period, which would also be at peak. Chadha informed Vohra that he had duly reviewed this matter and additional security forces were being provided to the state for effective arrangements. |
