Rajouri locals hold protest against PWD
Launch donation campaign to raise funds for repair of roads

JAMMU, June 5: Various political activists along with the local residents today thronged Rajouri- Thannamandi Road near District Hospital Rajouri and initiated donation campaign for repair of government road from Khachar Ground to Darhali Morh area besides expansion of road from Gujjar Mandi to Khachar Ground.
The locals said that government has adopted deaf ears to the problem for the last one year. As a result of the protest demonstration, traffic on the road was disrupted for about 2 hours in the morning.
Led by various political activists namely PDP District President Abdul Qayoom Dar, Awami National Conference District President Mushtaq Ahmed, PDP leaders Mohammad Ayub Wani, Tazeem Dar , Sarpanch Choudhary Nar and Beopar Mandal leader Shamsher Malik, locals of Kheora area not only closed all business establishments in the area but held a strong protest demonstration near District Hospital against the apathetic attitude of state government and local administration about addressing public grievances.
The protestors raise anti-government and anti-administration slogans alleging that department has failed to repair the city roads which are in dilapidated condition and not fit to ply vehicles. The protestors said that they have lodged their protest several times at the same place but it created no impact on the administration.
District President PDP Abdul Qayoom Dar said that the road condition from Khachar Ground to Darhali Morh is in such a bad condition that probably even donkeys feel uncomfortable while walking on the road.
Meanwhile, Block PDP leader Tazeem Dar initiated campaign of donation on the occasion. He said that when state government is not ready to mitigate the problem, they have decided to raise funds from donation and they have installed a donation box for the same.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, DSP Headquarter and Tehsildar assured the protestors that the repair work of the road will be initiated soon.
