Drought-hit farmers demand relief package

REASI, June 5: The drought-hit farmers of the region have demanded a relief package.
"We want the government to announce a relief package of Rs 500 cr for the nearly 40 lakh drought-hit farmers of the region," Ashok Sharma, chairman of All J&K Kisan Union (AJKKU), said, while addressing farmers here today.
He emphasised the need for formulating a comprehensive farm policy for the state so that the losses caused to standing crops, orchards and livestock of farmers due to drought could be compensated.
