| Omar for enhanced power to relieve people of scorching heat | | | Early Times REport
JAMMU, June 5: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today reviewed the power scenario in Jammu division and ordered enhanced supply in view of blazing heat. The announcement comes at a time when parts of the region are reeling under intense heat, having direct bearing on the power consumption. Abdullah, in a meeting here, directed Power Development Department to ensure that supply of power during summer days is adequately increased to give immediate relief to people. He further asked the officers to take all necessary measures to avoid unscheduled power cuts, besides evolving an effective mechanism to restore power supply within shortest possible time to avoid unnecessary inconvenience to public. In this regard, the Department has been asked to implement the directions of the Chief Minister in letter and spirit.
