NYC holds protest, demands continuation of their services | | | Early Times REport
JAMMU, June 5: In protest against government's 'indifferent attitude' towards their demands, the volunteers of National Youth Corps (NYC) today held a protest near Press Club, Jammu. Early morning a large number of volunteer from across Jammu region assembled near the Press Club and raised slogans against State Government and held dharna there under the banner of All J&K NYC Volunteers Association. While addressing the protesters, state vice president Asif Ali Bhat said our future is every thing for us, we will cross every limit to protect it. He urged the government to consider the case of NYC volunteers sympathetically Bhat demanded to formulate a perfect policy for 8000 odd NYCs, who are serving in different government departments for the last two years. Bhat regretted government's lack of concern towards agitating volunteers. He cautioned that such attitude could lead to a mishap as was evident from an incident of poison inhaling by a NYC worker at village Qaimoh of Kulgam. Bhat further said that from the last one week NYC's of Srinagar division are on hunger strike at press club Srinagar, but the government is not paying heed towards their plight. |
