| Mangat exhorts teacher’s fraternity to promote moral values | | | KATHUA, JANUARY 31 As a part of Republic Day 2007 celebrations, a colorful function was organized at Government Higher Secondary School, Jakhbar in Kathua district today. Minister for Health and Medical Education, Ladakh Affairs, Labour and Employment, Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma who was the chief guest on the occasion unfurled the National flag and took salute the march past by the contingents drawn from students of 8 adjoining schools of the area. Among others, District Development Commissioner, Kathua Ms. Sarita Chauhan, Director Health Services, Jammu Dr. Jasbir Singh SSP, Kathua, Mr. J.P Singh, Chief Education Officer, Kathua Mr. Arun Sharma, district officers, principals, teachers, prominent citizens, political leaders and large number of people of adjoining areas were present on the occasion. A colorful cultural programme was presented by the students of participating schools which was highly appreciated by the audience. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Mangat Ram Sharma congratulated the audience and recalled the importance of Republic Day and said that the martyr’s, who have sacrificed their lives and have fetched Independence for us, must be remembered and it is our duty to safeguards our Independence and country. Mr. Sharma appreciated the cultural programme presented by the children. He said that children are the future assets of the country and it is the moral duty of the teachers to inculcate in them a sense of patriotism and National Integration. He urged upon the parents to send their wards especially Girls to the school to get education. Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma said that coalition Government headed by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is fully committed to the balanced development of all the three regions of the state with top priority to Education and Healthcare. Mr. Sharma said that Government is all set to launch Rural Health Mission in the state and for healthcare of Mother and child; local ladies known as ASHA workers will be trained and specialists will be posted in rural areas for specialized treatment of rural masses under National Rural Health Mission. The minister exhorted upon the political parties to work united for the development of the district without political consideration. He asked the un-employed educated youth to establish their own income generating units under various centrally sponsored instead of hankering after government jobs. Various deputations also met the minister and projected various demands, which include upgradation of MS Patyari and construction of additional rooms in GHSS, Jakhbar.The minister assured that their demands will be looked into shortly. The minister also distributed prizes among the best performing students in march past and the cultural programme. Later, the minister also visited Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, Kathua. The prominent citizens projected demands relating to provision of round the clock duties of Doctors, sufficient stock of medicines and ambulances. The minister directed the Director Health Services to look into the demands of the people and redress them at the earliest.
