No joking please; be serious Mr Gupta | Where is tangible development? | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 5: The state is forwarding in all spheres and under the visionary and dynamic leadership of Jenab Omar Abdullah the socio economic condition of the state is emerging stronger and stronger in spite of the fact that disparate opposition creating hurdles. This was stated by Provincial President of the National Conference, Advocate Rattan Lal Gupta in a statement issued here today. Well Gupta cannot be serious in boasting progress of the state in all spheres. Perhaps Gupta is unaware of the death of more than 330 infants in Srinagar's only pediatric hospital. This speaks volumes about the quality of healthcare in the state. The senior Advocate tried his best to plead his party's case but could not find anything other than rhetoric to prove his point. He talked about Panchayat elections, Accountability Commission, RTI and Public Service Guarantee Act. This is all paper work Mr Gupta. Where is the tangible development? The Panchayat elections, it has now become clear, were held to get money from New Delhi and not for empowerment of the commoner. The Panchayats are still awaiting empowerment. The Panches and the sarpanches are ridiculed, humiliated and condemned by class IV employees. As far as the Vigilance Commission is concerned, Omar Abdullah wants a `tainted' police officer to head it. Being a lawyer, Gupta must know that justice is not only to be done, it must seem to be done. How can people repose trust in a tainted official'?
