Tension grips GMCH after SPOs beat up NO | | | early times report JAMMU, June 5: Tension gripped the GMCH here today after some SPOs allegedly beat up a nursing orderly (NO) in the hospital premises. NO Suresh Kumar (45), son of Dewan Chand of Rajpura, was on duty in the GMCH emergency wing when a man came to him for a trolley which he needed to carry a patient. Police said when the NO asked the man to pay him Rs 50, or so, as security, which is refunded after the trolley is returned, there was an altercation between the two. An SPO, who watched all this from a distance, then intervened and asked the NO to immediately hand over the trolley to the man. This resulted in heated exchange of words between them. Police said the SPO was joined by other SPOs, deployed in the hospital for its security, and all of them beat up the NO who was later hospitalised. As the news spread in the hospital, NOs gathered outside the emergency ward and protested. SPOs also reached there later. To avoid a possible clash, Bakshi Nagar police immediately reached the hospital. Police said both the sides got pacified and returned to work after they were assured that action would be taken against the guilty.
