J&K to claim water from Ranjit Sagar Dam in Punjab | | | Jammu, June 5: Jammu and Kashmir will claim its share of water from the Ranjit Sagar Dam over river Ravi in Punjab to give a major boost to existing irrigation facilities in the state. "The government is vigorously pursuing the matter of sharing the irrigation water as provided under the agreement with the Punjab government," Irrigation Minister Taj Mohi-ud-din said here today. He said the additional facility of irrigation would enable farmers to diversify and multiply their crops fetching them greater returns. Regarding the Tawi Barrage Project, Taj said work on the prestigious project was in full swing, which on completion would add to the beauty of Jammu city besides augmenting irrigation facilities. |
