76,895 cases pending in J&K HC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 6: A total of 76,895 cases of different nature were said to be pending in the state high court till May 31 last. HC sources said of the 76,895 cases, 41,887 were the main, while 35,008 were of miscellaneous nature. This exercise was conducted on the directions of acting chief justice Virender Singh as it had been reported earlier that there was pendency of 86,000 cases only in the high court, the sources added. Against the sanctioned strength of 14 judges, the HC presently had only 6 judges, including the acting chief justice. With the appointment of Justice M M Kumar as chief justice of the state high court, the number of HC judges would go up to seven. |
