JKWDC calls upon women to benefit from schemes

Srinagar, June 6 : The Jammu and Kashmir Women's Development Corporation has called upon prospective women entrepreneurs to come forward and benefit from the schemes of the corporation which are aimed at social and economic upliftment to women. "Govt has setup scheme for self employment of women for their social and economic self reliance. We want more and more women entrepreneurs to come forward and benefit from these schemes", said Naheed Soz, Managing Director of the Womens development corporation. Soz also stressed upon qualified women to come forward and assume leadership role in women entrepreneurship. "Qualified women should come forward and earn a respectable livelihood instead of wasting their time looking for government jobs", she added. The MD, in response to a question told that the corporation has conducted more than 300 training camps in different areas of the state to create awareness among women. "We have conducted 330 training sessions and 145 awareness camps in the previous financial year and plan to conduct many more camps during the current year", Soz said. Stressing upon women to avail their hassle free schemes, the Managing Director said that the corporation approves loans within no time to aspiring women and women groups. "Ours is a single window system. We allot loans within a maximum of 6 weeks and if women complete formalities sanction within a week is possible", she claimed. Appreciating women entrepreneurs for their success Soz told KNS that there are hardly any defaulters in liquidation of loans allotted by the corporation. "We have a recovery record of around 97 percent. There are some old defaulters which are being covered by different legal means", she informed. The Managing Director also informed that the corporation has advanced an amount of 12.18 crores to women entrepreneurs during financial year 2011-12 and held 330 training camps and 145 awareness camps for women across the state.
