JKCA Red wins U-14 cricket tourney

JAMMU, June 6: Beating JKCA Blue by six wickets, the JKCA Red today clinched the winners' trophy in under-14 cricket tournament, orga-nised by Jammu wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College Hostel Gro-und, here. After winning the toss and decided to bat first, JKCA Blue bundled out for partly 92 runs in 25.2 overs of the 30 overs game. Rahul Sagotra and Prince Gupta were top scorers with 19 and 17 runs respectively while Ankit Sharma contributed 11 runs to the team's total. From JKCA Red, Dheeraj, Tushar Anthal and Sampark bagged two wickets each. Anshuman Pal Singh, Pavit Singh Ishar and Vikrant Sharma shared apiece each. In reply, JKCA Red attained the goal in 25.2 overs making 94 runs for the loss of four wickets thereby made it a impressive six wickets victory. Abdul Samad played fine innings of unbeaten 23, followed by Vikrant Sharma, who played patient innings of 25 runs. Sahil Magotra added 16 runs to the total. From JKCA Blue, Ashish Gandotra claimed two wickets while Chander Singh and Satvik Kohli were other two successful bowlers who shared other two wickets between them. The final was officiated by Tajeshwar and Rajnesh as umpires while Sanjeev was socrer. For his outstanding performance throughout the tournament, Sanchit Dass was declared man of the series. The man of the match trophy went to Vivrant Sharma while best batsman title bagged by Sahil Lotra. Sampark Gupta adjudged best bowler and Vansh Sharma awarded best fielder trophy. Pavit Singh Isher was declared rising star of the tournament.
In the final and valedictory function, Chairman of the JKCA, Mohd Aslam Goni was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. He announced that similar competition would be organised for under-16 and under-19 age categories by the JKCA in near future so as to tap the hidden talent in the junior groups. Prominent among others present were Deputy Director DYSS, S S Bali, Prof BD Darmal, Prithvi Vaid, Rohit Malhotra, Ranjit Kalra, Ashok Singh, Shahid Parvez, Hardev Singh Jamwal, Ijjaz Malik, Dinesh Jasrotia, Dr Vinod Bakshi, Vijay Sharma, Ashok Dutta, Suresh Singh, Varinder Sharma and Ashwani Gupta.
