Rainbow of Colours presented during 'Paridhan'- costume show at JU

Jammu, June 6: Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized Paridhan- a traditional costumes show for Private B Ed Colleges at Gen Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu.
Bhartiya College of Education, Udhampur, bagged the first prize whereas Sai Shyam College of Education and Shivalik College of Education were adjudged as second and third, respectively.
During the show the participants walked on the ramp attired in Dogri, Kashmiri, Gojri, Pahari, Laddhkhi, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Gujrati, Marathi, Bengali, Assamme, Naga etc. The Gen-Y participated adored perfectly to their charm and fashion and other jewellary items spell bound the audience. On the other hand their counterparts attired in their best walked in style displaying different styles of moustaches and beards etc.
Earlier at the onset of occasion Prof Jasbir Singh Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee who was the Chief Guest on this occasion said that Traditional costumes In India greatly vary across different parts of the country and are influenced by the local culture. Geographical conditions climate rural and urban setting etc. He further said that traditional costumes never go out of fashion. "The younger generation is in mad race towards West and be it the Dance or Costumes the younger generation gets influenced while shying away from their own traditional roots. Singh also underlined the need for organizing such programmes frequently.
At the fullest charm the participants moved from various sections of the stage assembled in the centre with the playback tune 'Mile Sur Meta TumltaTa Toh Sur Bane Hamara." The Programme was conceived by Vijay Atri.
The participants from R M Charitable & Educational Trust, NSM College of Education, Sai Shyam College of Education, J K College of Education, Vimal Muni College of Education, Adarsh College of Education, Kalra College of Education, Kud, Patnitop, Vaishno Devi College of Education, Reasi, R.S College of Education, Kathua, Hill Peoples College of Education & Trainings, Shivalik College of Education, Udhampuf, Bhaltiya College of Education Udhampur" Ashoka College of Education and Sant Mela Singh College of Education participated in the programme.A panel comprising Maansi Gupta, Dr Anupama Vohra and Vijaya Thakur, adjudged the performance of the participants.
Earlier Prof N K Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu, delivered the welcome address while the programme was compared by Rani Kumari, Secretary, Students Cultural Council.
Among others Prof Neeru Sharma, Co-Chairperson, Prof. R.K. Rampal, Prof. Parmeshwari Sharma, Dr. Vishva Raksha, Dr. Anju Thapa, Dr. Sandeep Tandon, Dr. Kavita Suri, Dr Lalit Sen, Chairpersons. Principals, Teacher Incharges and Students, were also present.
