NAAC team visits MIER college of education for reaccreditation | | | early times report Jammu, June 7: A team of experts appointed by NAAC visited MIER College of Education for two days on 28th and 29th of May, 2012 to assess the college for reaccreditation. The peer team comprised of Prof. Rameshchandra G. Kothari, Chairperson, Former Vice-Chancellor and Prof. of Education, The M.S University of Baroda, Vadodara, Gujarat; Prof. Smriti Swaroop Member Co-ordinator, Former Director, Department of Special Education, SNDT Women's University, Mumbai; Prof. D.P.Asija, Member, M. M. College of Education Mullana, Haryana. They were welcomed by the management of the college. The principal Dr. Renu Gupta gave a presentation about the college. It was followed by a round of the college to assess the facilities offered by the college. The team was impressed by the infrastructure and the overall environment of the college. An impressive cultural programme was presented by the students of the college on the occasion. The peer team conducted interactive sessions with the students, teaching, non-teaching staff, alumni and parents. During the visit the NAAC Peer Team also interacted with the Governing body and Managing committee members of the college. NAAC happens to be an autonomous body of the University Grants Commission (UGC) which accredits institutions of higher education according to different quality parameters. Its accreditation is valid for a period of five years. It may be recalled that MIER College of Education was accredited by NAAC with 'A' grade in the year 2006 to become the first college in the private sector of Jammu region to attain such a grade. In another quality initiative the MIER College of Education has become a member of the Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) which is a network of institutions providing quality education in international perspectives. NAAC also happens to be an important member of APQN. |
