JKDF laments shortage of power, water in city areas | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 7: Expressing its grave concern over the growing shortage of water and electricity in Jammu region, the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) today asked the authorities to redress the problems being faced by the people. In a meeting of youth wing of JKDF chaired by its president Munish Khajuria held at district office, the members said that erratic power and water supply in city areas is the outcome of mismanagement and failure of the coalition dispensation. Addressing a gathering of the activists here, Munish Khajuria expressed surprise over the power crisis just after the closure of civil Secretariat in this winter Capital of the State and said that all of a sudden the supply of electricity not only heavily curtailed but also there are unscheduled cuts making the life miserable in the heat of the summer. This is also badly affecting the supply of drinking water as also the normal functioning of trade and industries, he added. Munish Khajuria further said that the supply of ration through Government controlled depots has also further deteriorated with the closure of the Civil Secretariat here. Khajuria said that the sanitation conditions and digging of the lanes and roads in the name of laying the sewerage system is causing great inconvenience to the people but there is hardly anyone to look into the melody. Unemployment is yet another growing problem of the State. Central Government's announcement of one lakh employment package is yet to see the light of the day and if implemented, same should be equally distributed among the all Districts of State. He assailed the Government for not conducting the civic elections and having an extensive revision of the electoral roles which are not only faulty but have been manipulated in several wards. |
