Doda-Kishtwar plunged into darkness since midnight | 132 KV NHPC transmission line snapped due to massive windstorm | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KISHTWAR, June 7: Twin districts of Kishtwar and Doda plunged into darkness since last midnight due to technical snag in 132 KV NHPC transmission line at Seagwari. According to the officials PDD department, 132 KV NHPC transmission lines which connects Doda and Kishtwar district with Kishanpur Grid developed snag due to heavy winds that sweeps across Kishtwar and Doda District last night. The officials said that NHPC authorities have pressed both men and machinery to restore the power supply in Kishtwar and Doda by 10 PM tonight. It is worthwhile to mention that 132 KV NHPC transmission every year develop some fault thus causes inconvenience to over 7 lakh population of Kishtwar and Doda districts. Even though the central government under Prime Minister's Reconstruction Programme in the year 2004 sanctioned four grid stations of 50 MVA capacity one each at Ramban, Banihal, Gandoh and Kishtwar, beside a double circuit 132 KV transmission line which connects all the four grids with northern grid. But due to slow pace of work the project which costs over 300 crore rupees is yet to be completed, the reasons better known to the people who are at the helm of affairs. |
