Mehbooba assures vociferously to take up people's problems

SRINAGAR, June 7: To assess the problems being faced by the residents of different towns, Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) reached out to the urban areas of the state. PDP president Mehooba Mufti visited many towns of South Kashmir and interacted with large number of people and had the ground assessment of the hardships being faced by the masses due to lack of basic civic amenities in these areas.
While interacted with PDP chief at Pampore, people complained that there is a LPG filling station in Pampore but the people of the town lacks the facility of a gas counter which could fulfill the needs of the town. Furthermore people also complained about prevailing mess due to traffic congestion resulting into lot of problems to the shopkeepers. They also complained regarding the damages caused to the production of world famous Saffron due to high tension wires which pass through the Saffron fields.
At famous town of Awantipura, the residents regretted that despite the PDP led government, in its short span of tenure, had tried to restore the glory of this historic town by establishing a Science and Technology Islamic University and granting tehsil status to the town, the present regime has failed to take the development process forward.
The residents also demanded setting up of trauma cum sub-district hospital so as to provide timely treatment to the accident victims because road accidents in the area is a routine affairs on the highway. They also raised the issue of non payment of adequate compensation for the land acquired for the widening of national highway.
At Pulwama, the residents once again complained that the projects like construction of circular road, hospital building and building for the degree college-which were started during PDP led regime, have been left mid-way.
Besides all these problems, there was shortage of water, power crises and collapsed drainage system in all the towns.
Mufti assured the residents of all these towns that PDP as a responsible opposition would agitate for the solution of their problems.
