Youth Congress Elections: A Flop Show | Wedge deepens down to youth leadership | | Salil Raina Poonch, June 7: As expected, the high profile drama of Youth Congress elections has exposed fully before the public. Many Congress delegates have now started to raise their voices over the selection process adopted in elections. They now openly allege that the muscle and money power was used in these elections as out of 90,000 memberships, just a little more than 4800 delegates were allowed to vote with a pre direction to vote in favour of particular candidate. Many a delegates have started questioning election of Shahnawaz Chowdhary as president advocating that Satish Sharma, a candidate on Jammu Poonch Constituency scored more than 1800 votes where as elected President of PYC Shahnawaz scored nearly 1500 votes. The rivalry between the two groups of Congress has reached to an alarming level and due to this, a wedge has already been created in the next generation of Congress leadership. Sanjeev Sharma, former District Youth President Poonch said, "We were totally ignored in the process and whole election process is not held in a democratic way. Satish Sharma who fought on Jammu Poonch constituency took large number of votes where as Shahnawaz scored less votes than him, so it could have been better if high ups designate Satish Sharma as President of PYC as he scored maximum number of votes". Earlier, Congress was divided into Soz and Azad, now the strong wedge created by these two stalwarts have spreading its tentacles among the next generation of congress leaders and if circumstances continue to going this way further, Congress will be bless with more and more groupism which will spoil the party image among the masses. |
