JU non-teaching employees observing "Work to Rule" | Immediate removal of OSD to VC demanded | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 7: The non-teaching employees union of the Jammu University has opened front against the University administration as it decided to observe "Work to Rule" means "no work after duty hours" from today onwards in protest against the insensitive attitude of Vice Chancellor towards their long pending charter of demands. Today, the union called general body meeting to discuss the whole matter. The union categorically blamed OSD to Vice Chancellor Jai Kumar Sharma for this mess. The president of the union, Sunil Sahi alleged that OSD was creating problems for the non-teaching employees vis-a-vis fulfilment of their demands. "The OSD is misguiding the Vic Chancellor on policy matters which is disturbing the whole non-teaching fraternity. It is disgusting that the person who himself has taken many undue advantages is finding fault in genuine demands of others. The union will not bear such persons," he added. Thereafter many speakers putforth their views and condemned the attitude of JU administration particularly OSD Jai Kumar Sharma. They demanded from the Vice Chancellor to immediately remove OSD from the position so as to resolve the issue. They alleged that Sharma was serving in the University despite being ineligible.
Later, the delegation of non-teaching employees met the Vice Chancellor and straight away demanded removal of OSD from the position. The Vice Chancellor defended his OSD but, assured the delegation that their genuine demands would not be ignored. However, the Union has decided to carry on with the observance of "Work to Rule" till Tuesday. Thereafter, the union will decide the future course of action.
Sunil Sahi told that non-teaching employees were not in favour of strike to highlight their anguish so they decided to observe "Work to Rule" which will not hurt the interest of stakeholders. The officers like Jai Kumar Sharma has no right to put unnecessary objections over the genuine demands of non-teaching employees as he himself was ineligible to hold various posts in University, he added.
