1/31/2007 10:20:42 PM
Jammu |Jan 31
To remember the great sacrifices of six patriotic martyrs, who laid down their lives during the 1953- Praja Parishad agitation in Jourian. Distt. Akhnoor unit of BJP organized a function at Shaheedi sthal, jourian in which tributes were paid to the these martyrs for their role for strengthening the national cause in the state.
BJP State President Ashok Khajuria, while paying tributes to the martyrs, said that the 1953-Praja Parishad agitation was launched with the slogan of Ek vidhan-Ek nishan-Ek Pradhan to ensure the full integration of the state of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of country.he said the patriotic people in the state during this agitation had come on platform under the banner of Praja Parishad to register their protest against the separate constitution, separate flag and separate Sadar-e-Riyasat and the permit system, under which any one whishing to visit the state had to obtain permit .He also took the Congress-led coalition to task for its total failure to check price rise, provide jobs and ensure security of life and property of common man in the state.
Terming the common currency theory of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, who is also sitting Member of Parliament .as anti-national utterance, Ashok Khajuria said that she is speaking the language of Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani. She should resign and be booked for her such demand, he added.
Former state President. BJP. Dr. Nirmal Singh, while paying tributes, said how fortunate it is that while a common man in the state wants implementation of Indian constitution in full in the state, leaders of political parties like PDP and NC are demanding self rule, demilitarization and autonomy for political gains thus trying to take state away from India. He said such demands by leaders of these political parties are disrespect to the sacrifices of martyrs. He told these leaders to respect the whishes of people and work for achieving the Ek Vidhan-Ek Nishan-Ek Pradhan mission in total.
Prominent among there who also paid rich tributes to the martyrs included Shamsher Singh Manhas, Ramesh Arora, sehdev Singh, Colonel (Retd.) Uttam Singh. Captain Anand Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Mangal Singh, Daljeet Singh, Chaman Lal Kanathia, Ludharmani and Colonel (Retd.) Shamsher Singh.
