"LeT operatives visiting Laila Khan had plans to target Mumbai " | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar, June 7: Security agencies feel that the LeT operatives, who often visited Mumbai-based Pak actress Laila Khan, had plans to target vital places in Mumbai, including airports and railway stations. Laila's Outlander was recovered by police from the town here last week. It was kept in a locked shop. Police sources said the LeT men had allegedly stayed at the Ohshiwara residence and Igatpuri farmhouse of the actress who was missing for the past one year. They, along with her step-father, sister and a family friend, carried out the recce of Mumbai in 2011. Sources said that one Parvaiz Ahmed Tak was assigned the job of conducting a recce of Mumbai by LeT militants based in Kishtwar. It was the LeT operatives who arranged Tak's stay at the residence of Liala Khan in Mumbai, the sources added. After his job was over, at least two Pakistani militants travelled to Mumbai to collect details from him. One of them was believed to be Maj Ghulam Sarwar of Pakistan. Sources said that the satellite phone recovered from the Liala's residence belonged to these two Pakistani militants. It was to be used hours before the fresh terror strike in Mumbai and its adjoining areas. Sources said that Ghulam Sarwar and his men had also assigned the job of conducting a recce in Delhi to Dr Waseem Akram Malik whp was presently lodged in Tihar jail. Sources said that after successfully conducting a recce of Delhi and Mumbai, the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, in collaboration with various terror organizations operating in Pakistan and Bangladesh, triggered a blast outside Delhi High Court on September 7, 2011, killing 16 persons. Sources said that after the blast, all the militants involved in it hid themselves in different areas. They were to reunite again later to prepare themselves for targetting Mumbai. The plan could not be executed due to the arrest of Dr Waseem Akram and his two associates. Sources said that after security forces wiped out LeT from Kishtwar district after the elimination of LeT commander Habib Gujjar on August 5, 2011, militants took the help of Hizbul Mujahedeen outfit which provided them the explosives which were later used in Delhi High Court blast. Sources said that though the reason behind setting the house of Liala Khan on fire was not known yet, it was believed that the LeT operatives did not want to leave any proof against them. Sources said that three years ago, Laila Khan had allegedly married a member of terror outfit HUJI. As film Director Rakesh Sawant, who was working on a project with Laila about three years ago, in his interview with various TV channels has also revealed that she would often receive mysterious visitors. Sources said that Shakir Hussain, a close friend of Parvaiz Iqbal Tak, had given some vital clues to Kishtwar police regarding his activities and hideouts in Kishtwar as well as in Mumbai. Shakir also worked as driver of the missing actress. Sources said that Tak, in order to keep a check on the activities of Laila Khan, had appointed Shakir as her driver. It is worthwhile to mention that ATS, Mumbai, is presently camping at Kishtwar in view of the recovery of Laila's Outlander (MH02BY/7867) from here.
