Alleged dispute over well water: One community stays away from DC's durbar
6/8/2012 11:09:32 PM
Early Times Report

KATHUA, June 08: When deputy commissioner (DC), Kathua, today went to Rasooh near here to settle a dispute over the water of a well, one community preferred to stay away from her durbar. The members of the community, which was alleged to have boycotted the meeting, said they had not got any intimation about it. The DC, however, said the administration had sent intimation to both the communities. But when nothing substantial came out of the meeting, the DC left the spot, with a request to the people to settle the dispute at the earliest and maintain peace.
She said some mischievous elements were trying to communalise the situation in the village.
The village sarpanch, however, said the real issue was not the fight between two communities over the well water, but it was actually the drinking water scarcity.
He said, while the DC was trying to put the blame on him, he had no role in the "so-called" tension.
