| CFNEU organises orientation training course | | | Jammu | Jan 31 Community Food Nutrition and Extension Unit, Union Minister of Women and Child Development, organized Orientation Training course, in integrated Nutrition education Extension in collaboration with Satyug Nirman Sanstha at Akhnoor. Apart from students and teachers of the area, representatives from various Non Government Organisations (NGOs) attended the training course. Dr. T.R. Sharma, State Tuberculosis Officer/ Divisional Nutrition Officer, who inaugurated the Camp exhorted the workers to augment the efforts of the Government in providing basic knowledge to common people on nutrition to alleviate malnourishment. Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Braroo, Demonstration Officer, CFNEU, Jammu giving graphic account of the present nutrition scenario in India said that infant mortality rate are more or less static and mal-nutrition of pregnant and nursing mothers is the main contributing factor. He said that proper nutrition is not only linked to health but also with the development of the country. In his address, Suman Sharma, Secretary General of Satyug Nirman Sanastha, asked the NGOs’ to work with missionary zeal to improve the feeding practices and remove some apprehensions about certain nutritious foods.
