| The word Hindu and India have its origins in the ancient period and is to be understood in the backlight of foreign invasions in the Indian Sub-continent. Persians, Greeks and then the Arabs are associated with the etymology of the word Hindu and India. Persians who were the first to attack Indian subcontinent could not pronounce the letter 'S' and they replaced letter 'S' by the letter 'H' everywhere. This is to say that they used to pronounce river Sindhu as river Hindu and the Sapt Sindhu region as Hapta Hindu region. This is how the word Hindu came into being. Persians called the river Sindhu as Hindu, the land beyond river Hindu as Hindustan and the people as Hindus. Thus these Hindus included Sanatana Dharmis who were practicing Brahmanism then, Buddhists and Jains. Later Sikhism came into being from the indigenous people and was hence included into the fold of Hindu. So Hindu essentially means present day Sanatana Dharmis, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains. But the word Hindu defined only a club of people in a defined geographical area and not their religion.
Let us now understand how the word India came into being and what the relation between India, Indian and Hindu is. After Persians were defeated by Greeks under Alexander, these Greeks made inroads in the Indian sub continent as a natural corollary of their invasions. They called river Sindhu as Indus. The land beyond river Indus was called as India and the people as Indians. So this was also the same geographical concept which had nothing to do with religion but the entire population. Later in the second half of the eighth century Arab traders revived the word Hindu when they came to India for trade.
Now from the above discussion, it is vividly clear that there is no difference when one calls himself a Hindu or an Indian. Indian is only an anglicized version of the word Hindu. Both essentially mean the same. So, when somebody asks Muslims of India to address themselves as Hindus because their ancestors were Hindus and also for one Indian nation and brotherhood they should be included in the Hindu fold, he/she is termed as communal by the so called secular elements.
This is essentially a problem with a famous national party of India that wants to anglicize India and wants its vote bank to flourish on communal grounds by playing with the sentiments of Muslims and distorting history. Inclusion in Hindu fold doesn't mean that Muslims cannot practice Islam because Hindu has nothing to do with religion. It only defines a common way of life which unites the Indian Nation. Isn't it foolish to say, "Well, I am an Indian but not a Hindu?" This suggests that we are more interested in creating divisions by using anglicized versions of those words which define our identity which is so essential to create a united India and India as a 'One Nation'.
I want to include all those who came from foreign lands viz. Muslims, Christians, Parsis, Jews etc into the Hindu fold so that the divisions created by politicians are melted away and we all live as brothers and throw politics out of religion. I also want to create India as a Hindu Rashtra (which essentially mean a nation's way of life or in particular Hinduness or Hindutva) because if you read the literature of Al Qaeda, Taliban and other Islamic terrorist organizations, their prime goal is to slowly poison the Muslims of India to fall in suicide against Hindus. Do we require a counter ideology to contain this malicious campaign or not? Indian Mujahidin, SIMI and other home grown terrorist organizations are the manifestation or result of the ideology of these terrorist organizations.
Many of the present union ministers are being blackmailed by ISI and Pakistan to help diffuse this ideology into India. This ideology to begin with did not work but, now it has started working. These ministers are blackmailed because they transfer their black money from India to abroad through Hawala and Hawala agents are nothing but the front organization of ISI. Hawala is Dubai Headquartered and is regulated by ISI to fund terrorist activities. So ISI of Pakistan has all the details of those who transfer black money to tax havens. This is the reason why we see new terminologies like Saffron Terror, attempts to break our sacred Ram Setu and the weak stand of Congress led UPA on Pakistan, Ajmal Kasab, Afzal Guru Etc.
Parsis and Jews have no problem because they themselves volunteered to be loyal to the nation and presented a united front with the Hindus. The problem with Christians is that they believe in conversions and hence are not interested in intermingling with Hindus. Muslims in private accept that their ancestors were Hindus which is now proved by DNA and molecular studies but, the Mullah doesn't allow them to accept this. Reason is simple: They claim, "This is not a one nation. We have our own identity." But let me remind these Mullahs and politicians that Pakistan was created for those Muslims who thought that they cannot live along with Hindus and are a separate nation. Those who stayed back in India were essentially those whose ancestors were Hindus and who had no problem living with Hindus. This was essentially the basis of Two Nation Theory. So, if someone still thinks that he or his community is a separate nation, they should crossover to the other side of the LOC or should be forced away. Here I want to emphasize that every body can follow his/her religion but, when it comes to National Identity, we have to be a one nation. Muslims should understand this and accept themselves as Hindus or those whose ancestors were Hindus. Then only we can be a one nation and as a nation we should be one i.e. Hindus which essentially mean Indians.
Any civilization which is adventurous enough to mask its own identity and history with that of euro centered and anglicized versions is bound to die as can be traced from History.
To prove this point I would like to request the readers to refer to the history of Africa. They have lost their culture, history, traditions and have been anglicized to the last marrow of their bones. They are only a victim of Anglicization. British and French linked their greatness to renaissance thinkers and heroes of enlightenment. Emphasis of History writing is always to prove how great we were. So, when British wrote our history, one can understand their ulterior motives and the disgrace that followed. They created the Aryan-Dravidian divide which never existed and which is now proved by DNA studies. Germans suddenly created their history by linking themselves to the great Aryan race which in itself is an aberration.
This was done by them to meet British and French challenge of greatness. Germans built more than 100 universities based on Aryan Studies and Sanskrit studies in a limited time span of less than three decades because they found it easy and great to parachute it on German population and other nations of the Europe. Well to understand the gravity of these happenings one need to refer to the literature which defines how and why history is created.
Coming to the point I want to emphasize here that our civilization which according to historians started way back in 3000 B.C was one of the earliest civilizations of the world and the only civilization which is continuing till date and the most flourishing civilization. We don't need to create or fudge our history and culture. Indol-ogists and Orientalists have gone on record to term Indian civilization as one of the greatest. In fact Indol-ogists and Orientalists started their studies looking into the past greatness of Asian civilizations which by then were declining. Still I don't understand why are we forgetting our history? We have to revive our values and greatness. However, I would not find fault with the citizens of this country because our successive governments were instrumental in presenting a distorted history because of its vote bank politics. They want to denigrate our culture, religion, beliefs and spirituality so that they can garner votes of other communities whom they wanted to be kept out of the common Hindu fold. Let us not forget that we were Hindus and we are Hindus and this includes all religions in India. But for Muslims and Christians a precondition is to be met because of historical reasons and politicization of the entire issue. They should accept that their ancestors were Hindus. DNA studies have proved it beyond any reasonable doubt. Then only we can be a one nation and progress to become the world super power.
Here I want to conclude by submitting that we are lucky enough to be bestowed with diversities not only of religion but also of flora and fauna. We should celebrate diversity and not politicize it. We should not mix politics with religion however I would like to emphasize here that religion should always be mixed with politics so that the inherent materialism of politics is to be harmonized with the inherent morality and spiritualism of religion.
But we also have to be united amongst this diversity which unfortunately we are not. This is a great security threat to our country. We cannot stand divided and dream of becoming the best place to live at. So the common ground amongst this diversity is our common culture, values and the way of life. Let us be united on this common front so that ills of modern day politics are faded and we bequeath a united India to our coming generations so that they can live in prosperity and peace.
