Omar regime utterly failed to carry forward development agenda: PDP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT POONCH, June 9: Lambasting Omar Abdullah led regime for its failure to carry forward the agenda of peace and development in the State, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership today reiterated commitment of the party to fulfill aspirations and wishes of all regions and sub-regions of the State. Addressing series of public meetings in Poonch district, senior PDP leaders namely Abdul Gaffar Sofi and Basharat Bukhari today said that PDP had pioneered the agenda of peace and development in the State to establish sustainable peace in this region. PDP duo alleged agenda pioneered and adopted by the PDP had given encouraging result during the tenure of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed but the present government headed by Omar Abdullah has miserably failed to carry forward this agenda. Accrediting Mufti Sayed led coalition regime for creating conducive atmosphere for initiating peace process and taking Confidence Building Measures (CBMs), PDP leaders asserted that opening of crossing points on Line of Control and beginning of the cross LoC trade in border district of Poonch was biggest achievements towards peace and normalcy. Reminding the people about the steps taken during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for socio-economic growth of the people of Poonch district, PDP leaders said that work on Mugal road, stopped for the last two decades, was restarted only during the PDP regime. Party leaders, however, regretted that present dispensation headed by Omar Abdullah has failed to follow the path of development and peace which was carved out Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. "Instead of addressing problems of the people this regime has been trying to hoodwink the people by false promises", they said and prevailing anarchy and chaos in the State was testimony of the failure of the present government.
