Medical employees go on hunger strike | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, June 6: Several medical employees in the district today went on a two-day hunger strike demanding departmental promotion committee for all the employees. The agitating employees under the banner of the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Employees Federation, demanded that all the "medical employees be measured on the same yardstick without any bias." "The government has adopted a discriminatory attitude, while some of the medical employees have been given the benefits of the DPC, others have been kept out of its purview," Kathua unit president, Balkar Singh, said. The employees warned that if the government did not pay any heed to their demands they will go on a fast unto death. "If the government does not listen to our demands after two days of hunger strike, we will go on for a fast unto death," he said.
